ROBOT A DAY IN A BOOK AND ALSO THE NEW BOT IS COMING….. SOONISH

This week’s bot is coming…… sometime this week. Look, last week when I created Freddie it took more than a week’s worth of creative juice to get that chest hair going on. Actually, I only made the bot to do the chest hair. I kinda want to do a run of hairy chest bots. Because I am classy like that.

So, I finally got a little recognition, for all the BACKBREAKING, SWEAT-INDUCING, FINGER-OUCHYMAKING SEWING LABOUR I put into the robots.

That’s right, Robot a Day is going to be part of a book.

AN AWESOME BOOK.

How do I know it will be awesome? Because it’s by Noah Scalin of SKULL A DAY fame! Yeah! Seriously! He’s like the prince of the project-a-day world, in case you didn’t already know (for real; he’s got his own Wikipedia page, even).

In any case, the book sounds fabulous; it features some interviews with other year-long projecteers, and I got to answer a few questions on this robotical project & creativity. So you should probably totally check it out when it comes out IN DECEMBER. WHICH IS FAR AWAY, I KNOW. But between now and then you will probably completely forget, and then I’ll remind you about it in November, and you’ll get excited again, and then forget until it’s actually out! Unless you pre-order it, which would probably be the best idea.

Personally, I’m hoping my local bookstore will have it so I can go and open it to a robot page and leave it somewhere conspicuous.

Bot 298, the Super Secret Project!

Well, dear readers, it is February, it is 2010, and I promised you that at this time I’d reveal my secret project. I actually finished making her on January 20th, so I’ve had some time to take appropriate photos for you.

May I introduce to you, the Baby Bot:

Now you all know why I’ve been so cranky. I know it’s customary to spend a bit of time here talking about the specifics of birth, but I think I can sum it all up in one word: UNPLEASANT. Actually, let me revise that: PARTICULARLY UNPLEASANT.

So here’s the catch: babies are ALOT OF WORK. Look, I know they are relatively tiny, but they do this crying thing, and they’re always wanting something. Wah wah, I need food, wah wah I crapped my pants, wah wah I’m too tired to sleep, wah wah Glee isn’t on until April and I’ve already watched all the episdoes TWICE. Seriously, my twittering is starting to suffer.

At this point, I won’t be able to continue two bots a week; I’m not sure if I can even manage one a week without them all being essentially the same (sleep deprived bot, very sleep deprived bot, bot who now knows they will never sleep again).

However, I’m going to try one a week, possibly with some other blog posts thrown in- but I’m not making any promises about the posts being cogent, or the bots being on time. And baby bot totally counts as this week’s bot, suckas.

ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAYS, DEAR READERS

So have an awesome time, y’all, no matter what you do or don’t celebrate! Personally, I celebrate present-and-tasty-food-mas, which shortly is going to include making myself ill on malteasers and candy canes. Oh, traditions.

So it’s time for my annual time off; partially because I’m a lazy slob and partially because my studio is freezing, but mostly, because I can. Robot a day a couple of times a week will officially resume Febuary 1st with a very special announcement (that secret project I’ve been working on), though I might sneak a couple of new bots in here and there when I get a moment, and the fancy strikes. In the meantime, eat, drink, be merry, or whatever it is you do for kicks.

A bit of a change (hey, change is good, right?)

Since I’ve passed both year milestones, it’s time for a bit of an announcement. Starting today, I’m changing the format of Robot a Day; instead of a new robot every day, there will be a new robot every Monday and Thursday.

Why the change? I simply have too much on my plate. While I absolutely love doing Robot a Day (and I adore you folks who stop by daily to check them all out- seriously, thank you! You’re awesome), in order to continue to bring you a fresh bot daily, I’ve had to put other projects on the back burner. My other website Anatomy of a Skirt has been languishing without my attention, as has my stock of AOAS purses! I don’t talk about it much here, but I also have a part time job that I work on weekends, and occassionally during the week. This means that between RAD, AOAS, and my job, I’m working seven days a week. Which has been great, and surprisingly do-able for the last year! But I’ve got a new secret project in the works, and it’s taking up a lot of that energy and time. So I had a choice; I could continue to do a robot every day, and maybe the quality would suffer, and maybe I’d have to resort to making less complicated robots, and maybe I’d have to end the whole RAD project, which I really don’t want to do. So the answer clearly was to move from doing a robot a day, to a somewhat less strenuous schedule. The plan, as it stands now, is to continue to do a robot twice a week until at least the end of the year.

I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate my reader’s support, comments, and awesomeness. I really hope you’ll continue to enjoy the bots I make; and as always, I totally want to hear your feedback! I’m sure the new format will take some getting used to for everyone, but in the end, it means I can continue this project, which I love doing!

Also- today’s robot is just below this post!

Happy Canada Day!

So yeah. Happy Canada Day and all that jazz, all. Please don’t be one of those people; you know the ones. The ones that wear the flag as a cape*/dress/loincloth; because you just make me want to stay inside. Which, actually, isn’t such a bad thing. All my stuff is here, inside, after all.

*The cape option might be acceptable if you are under ten.

Happy Victoria Day!

That’s right folks, it’s a holiday Monday! Bots will return tomorrow! Enjoy your May two-four weekend (that’s not actually on the twenty-fourth. Go figure). Don’t set fire to anything with those fireworks!

An exciting announcement……

Just a little note, from me to you:

STOP BY ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14th BECAUSE THERE IS GOING TO BE AN EXTRA SURPRISE! RIGHT HERE! ON THIS BLOG!

That’s right, there is going to be another bot and a surprise on Saturday. HOWEVER! Monday is a holiday here in Ontario, so I won’t be posting a bot on Monday. So think of the Saturday bot as your Monday bot in advance. Or something.

Oops!

ha, uh…. oops. So, do to technical difficulties (ie- me being lazy and also, oh right, lazy), today’s bot will be late. But, it will also be full of guilt-ridden AWESOMENESS because I DON’T DARE DISAPPOINT THE ROBOT A DAY READERS. Because some of you know where I live.
