A bit of a change (hey, change is good, right?)

Since I’ve passed both year milestones, it’s time for a bit of an announcement. Starting today, I’m changing the format of Robot a Day; instead of a new robot every day, there will be a new robot every Monday and Thursday.

Why the change? I simply have too much on my plate. While I absolutely love doing Robot a Day (and I adore you folks who stop by daily to check them all out- seriously, thank you! You’re awesome), in order to continue to bring you a fresh bot daily, I’ve had to put other projects on the back burner. My other website Anatomy of a Skirt has been languishing without my attention, as has my stock of AOAS purses! I don’t talk about it much here, but I also have a part time job that I work on weekends, and occassionally during the week. This means that between RAD, AOAS, and my job, I’m working seven days a week. Which has been great, and surprisingly do-able for the last year! But I’ve got a new secret project in the works, and it’s taking up a lot of that energy and time. So I had a choice; I could continue to do a robot every day, and maybe the quality would suffer, and maybe I’d have to resort to making less complicated robots, and maybe I’d have to end the whole RAD project, which I really don’t want to do. So the answer clearly was to move from doing a robot a day, to a somewhat less strenuous schedule. The plan, as it stands now, is to continue to do a robot twice a week until at least the end of the year.

I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate my reader’s support, comments, and awesomeness. I really hope you’ll continue to enjoy the bots I make; and as always, I totally want to hear your feedback! I’m sure the new format will take some getting used to for everyone, but in the end, it means I can continue this project, which I love doing!

Also- today’s robot is just below this post!

The masthead is perfect. I was wondering how you’d change the title.

    Secret projects…oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh.

Completely understandable why you’d cut down – to be honest I’m rather impressed you kept through the year, with so many different ideas. Think I would have run out of steam after a month of so!

I was a bit worried you’d be quitting the robots altogether after the 1 year anniversary, so two a week is still fantastic. And everyone loves a secret project…!

You still have to make me a David Suzuki bot.

Well, it’ll be quite awhile until I reveal the secret project- but i do have a coule of RAD-related projects in the works too, which I’m hoping to unveil in the fall. We’ll see….

Ha, Julie, I’m glad you like the masthead. It’s super pro all the way here at RAD.

Kelly, I’m not gonna lie- there was a couple of times where I was at a total loss at to what to make; but in general the ideas tend to snowball. Usually a bot idea will lead to several more related ones… and then the trick it to try to spread them out so y’all aren’t like “great, three weeks straight of birds” or something.
