Day 260 – Plastic Canvas Bot

This one might as well be “An Ode to The Crafts of my Youth”. Which happened in the 80’s. I’m seriously considering getting some of those melty beads, a bedazzler, some fimo, and shrinky dinks to round the week out.

On another note, although Robot a Day’s one-year anniversary was just about a month ago, this bot marks a “year of bots” (52 weeks in a year x 5 bots per week = 260 bots). Which is pretty neat.

    E. I do believe that Precious Moments were real big in the 80’s. I would love to see something Precious…..or with Big Eyes…… H

I was never really into plastic canvas much. Now gimp? That’d be a fun bot.

    And Happy Bot Birthday!

I’d like to see a rug-hooked bot and a paint-by numbers bot if we’re on the topic of the crafts of loyal robot-a-day readers’ youths.

Congrats on a year of bots!!!

Congrats on the whole year of bots!

If you want a bedazzler, I have an extra one just collecting dust. Surprisingly, you can still buy the refills.

Bot Year! Way to go sis, good job. Can’t wait to see how the secret project turns out.

Hannah, sometimes you scare me. but like, in a good way.

you know Sarah, I thought about gimp, but I’m at a loss as to how to make a gimp bot. Mostly I jsut made highly uncomfortable but really durable friendship bracelets.

And Julie, those are two bots I’ve always wanted to do. It’ll just take a bit of research, and lots and lots of tiny pieces of yarn……

Lindsay- how is it possible that you have more than one bedazzler? I am almost tempted, but I know I’d use it once and then it’d sit around collecting dust. And since I already have all these bot prototypes kicking around, I’m already at a space premium. But thanks! If you ever bedazzle a bot, you must send a photo.

    and thanks Bro!

Also I want to add that this bot took a ridiculous amount of time. Seriously, I’ve been working on it for weeks.

This robot put a huge smile on my face! During my own ’80s youth my great grandma made me an entire dollhouse out of plastic canvas. It was the coolest thing and I was so impressed when she told me she made it without a pattern. Now I’m inspired to make a little robot to live in the house.
